Executive Management


Bongani Sayidini

BTech Chem Eng, MSc Petroleum Eng, DIC, LLM Petroleum Law

and Policy (with distinction), MBA​

Mr. Sayidini has 19 years’ working experience in the petroleum industry, all gained at PetroSA, where he started his career as a Production Engineer in training and later Reservoir Engineer. 

He has held various senior technical and strategic roles within PetroSA, ranging from Senior Reservoir Engineer, Principal Reservoir Engineer, Strategist:Business Intelligence, Regional Manager: East Africa, Exploration & Production, and Vice-President: Exploration & Production. He was appointed AGCEO of PetroSA on 1 December 2018.​


Alison Futter

B. Com, M. Com (Taxation)

Mrs Futter joined PetroSA in October 2006 working within the Finance Division. She held the role of International Tax Advisor from 2006 to 2012, acting Group Tax Manager 2012 to 2014 and since 2015 Group Tax Manager. Prior to joining PetroSA she held the role Principal Tax Consultant at Ernst & Young (from 2000) and Tax Accountant at Old Mutual (from 1998).  

She is a practising member of the South African Institute of Professional Accountants (SAIPA), is an associate member of the South African Institute of Bankers, is the (member elected) Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the PetroSA Retirement Fund, a member of the tax working group of the South Africa Petroleum Industry Association (SAPIA) and the Chairman of the Tax and Finance Sub-committee for the Offshore Petroleum Association of South Africa (OPASA).

She was appointed to the role of Acting Chief Financial Officer in September 2018.


Kholly Zono
BSc(Hons)Chemistry, MBA, BTheol

Mr Zono holds a BSc Honours degree and Masters of Technology degree in Chemistry as well as an MBA and a BTheol degree.  He worked as a Lecturer and Research Associate at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University.  He joined PetroSA as a Research Scientist in 1998 and has served in various internal roles such as a Chemist, Scheduler, Production Planner and LP Modeller, Planning and Optimisation Manager. Mr Zono has also held key roles in strategic projects; these include Master plan development, representing PetroSA on various engagements with the Department of Energy. He has acted in the role of Vice President: Operations from June 2014 until October 2017 and in November 2017 Mr Zono was appointed Acting Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) (i.e. combined role) until November 2018.

He was appointed to the position of COO in January 2018 a position that he holds to date.


Saleem Soobader

ND Chem.Eng., BBA, MBA 

Mr Soobader has more than 25 years’ experience in the Petroleum Industry. He started out as a Trainee Process Controller on the PetroSA Offshore Production Facility, the FA Platform in 1992. His other roles at PetroSA include Operations at the ORCA Floating Platform and working as the Asset Manager in the Commercial Department.

He was responsible for setting up the PetroSA exploration operations in Sudan and Egypt. Between 2008 and 2010, Mr. Soobader relocated to Egypt where he continued to manage the Egypt and Sudan exploration operations. Upon his return to South Africa he has been involved in new business development and asset management. In 2015 he was appointed to the position of Exploration and Production Acting Regional Manager: South Africa

Mr. Soobader is currently the Acting Vice President: New Ventures Upstream, a position he has occupied from December 2018.


Michael Nene

Executive MDP 

Mr Nene has more than 40 years of experience in the Petroleum and Chemical Industry. He started his career at Sapref where he worked in the Production section of the Lubricant Oil Plant. He joined Mossgas during the construction and commissioning of the Gas-To-Liquid (GTL) Refinery in Mossel Bay in 1990, and he was a Senior Operator in the Synthol Unit. He went on to occupy various management positions within the company culminating in the current position of Production Manager: GTL Refinery.

Mr. Nene was appointed as the acting as Vice President: Operations in January 2018.


Thabiso Manne

B Chemical Eng, BSc Chemistry, MBL

Mr Manne has been working in the Petroleum and Chemical Industry for more than 22 years. He started his career at Sasol where he worked in Research and Development, Technical Support and Operations Management.

After joining PetroSA in 2009, he was assigned to the team tasked with the development of Project Mthombo, a project to build a crude oil refinery in Port Elizabeth.  He subsequently assumed the business development responsibilities for projects in the New Ventures Midstream division. He also contributed to key national energy policy initiatives such as Cleaner Fuels and the National Integrated Energy Plan. Mr Manne is a member of the Boards of GTL.F1, PetroSA’s Joint Venture technology company, as well as PetroSA Ghana. 

He currently the, Acting VP Midstream, a role he assumed since January 2019.


Andile Zokufa

BCom, Development Programme in Labour Relations, PDM (HR), PGD (Labour Law) 

Mr Zokufa has extensive experience in Human Capital-related fields spanning over a period of more than 15 years. He has occupied several HR and Employee Relations executive positions culminating in him being appointed an HR Director at Colgate Palmolive for Southern Africa region (which included Botswana, Zimbabwe, Swaziland and Namibia). He ran an HR consultancy and several business ventures prior to joining PetroSA in 2005 as the Human Capital HC Client Manager

Mr. Zokufa is currently the Acting VP: Human Capital since January 2019.


Odoi Paul Qabaniso Chibambo

Certificate Strategic Management, Dip (Marketing), MBA. 

Mr Chibambo has more than 39 years’ of experience in the downstream business. Before joining PetroSA as the Business Development Manager for the Sub- Sahara, he was the Trading Manager at BP South Africa responsible for the trading and strategy in BP Integrated Supply and Trading Division.

He brings extensive experience in the downstream having spent 28 years with the BP Africa region which included 16 years in the Retail and Commercial business where he was responsible for sales and marketing. He served as Regional Head of Logistics covering Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe where he successfully developed a regional supply strategy for the inland markets for BP Africa. The last 12 years in BP he served in various trading roles within BP’s Integrated Supply and Trading where he successfully developed BP’s Trading business in Africa and implemented a new business model which supported the transitioning of the management of BP’s Trading business from Europe to Asia

He was appointed as the Acting VP TS&L in December 2018.


Marlene Khumalo

BProc., PGD (Taxation), Admitted Attorney 

Ms Khumalo served in the Potable and Wastewater sectors for more than15 years.

She has experience in, among others, Company Secretariat, Legal, Compliance and Risk Management. She commenced employment at PetroSA in September 2018 in the position of Group Company Secretary.
