Cape Town, 21 July 2011 – The PetroSA Board has with immediate effect appointed one of its members, Mr Yekani Tenza, to assume the role of Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the national oil company.
Mr Tenza, an accountant with an MBA from the University of Texas in Austin, replaces Mr Nkosemntu Nika, who had been acting in the position since 5 April 2011. Mr Nika, whose stint as Acting CEO ended on 20 July 2011, returns to his position as Chief Financial Officer.
Mr Tenza, who has been a PetroSA Board Member since September 2009, will remain in the role until a new CEO is appointed. PetroSA has recently advertised the position of CEO and hopes to conclude the process soon.
The Board also has full confidence in Mr Tenza and wishes him well during his acting stint.
Mr Tenza is a Director of Highbury Solutions (Pty) Ltd and former President and CEO of the Foskor Group Ltd. He has served on the Boards of Telkom Ltd, Medscheme (Pty) Ltd, Tshepo-Themba Private Hospital (Pty) Ltd, Botshelong-Empilweni Private Hospital (Pty) Ltd, Louis Pasteur Private Hospital (Pty) Ltd and Clinix Health Management (Pty) Ltd, among others. He also serves on the CEF (Pty) Ltd Board and is a Certified Public Accountant registered with the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy.
